Feathers

*Light encoded for your spiritual journey*

Hello again, My Darling Readers!  It’s been a while and I hope you will forgive me for that.  I will endeavor to do better in the future.

Let’s get right in to feathers! While attending a recent wedding, I found a brown and yellow feather on the ground.  This was a very appropriate feather for a wedding as yellow and brown colors on feathers symbolize happiness, joy, stability and home.

You may have heard the saying, “Feathers appear when angels are near.”  I don’t know who said that first, but feathers have long been used for messages and as symbols from the Other Side.  There are many references dealing with feather colors and lore on the web. They are an integral part of indigenous cultures around the world.

I would guess that the most common sighting is a white feather.  This is either an angel or passed loved one popping in to say, “Hi!”  It can also be a sign of support from your Guardian Angel showing their love or to let you know that a deceased loved one is safe and at peace on the Other Side.  Each color has a different meaning.  Some colors have multiple meanings like the white feather.

When you see a feather, it is tempting to pick it up and keep it. Sometimes, though, it is very dirty, and yucky, and you really may not want to touch it. That’s OK.  Here in the United States, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 actually makes it illegal to collect the feathers you find.  You may think this applies only to endangered birds and the Bald Eagle, our national symbol.  However, it includes an extensive list of migratory birds that are quite common such as cardinals, blue jays, black-capped chickadees, goldfinches and Canadian geese.  The good news is you do not have to touch or pick up a feather to receive and acknowledge the message.  Just send a thank you to show your appreciation.  The key to the feather’s message is to remember what you were thinking about right before you found the feather and what you immediately thought of when you saw the feather.

All this leads me to the feather story that I really wanted to share with you.  One night while walking in to work in mid to late October, I found a feather.  It was a black feather.  I picked it up.  It was wet and dirty and bedraggled.  It looked dead and it filled me with dread.  It scared me because my youngest brother had been diagnosed with Stage 4 renal cell carcinoma in August.  When I saw that feather, I immediately thought of him. I thought the feather was a harbinger of his death.  I was hoping to do some research and find out something different.

When I got in to work, I looked up the meaning of a black feather as soon as I could.  What I found did not make me feel better.  I did not find Melanie’s chart above.  I found an article by Natalia Kuna.  According to www.nataliakuna.com, the black feather was a message of:

BLACK

  • Protection
  • warning
  • repelling of negative energy
  • showing your spiritual strength and armour, a message that you are, or need to stand strong, protected & set strong boundaries, while remaining intuitively
  • death, or an ending – as in a closed chapter, something ending in your life
  • increased mystical wisdom
  • a sign that you are undergoing a spiritual initiation & growth
  • magic/k
  • spiritual wisdom
  • when shiny or irridesent, it can represent high mystical insight

The feather I found was not at all iridescent.  This did not make me feel better.  This feather stayed in the back of my mind for the next few weeks.  It wasn’t long before my feather “came true.”  My youngest brother died a few weeks later at the age of 49.  It was horrible and beautiful all at the same time.  I was sad he was gone from this Earth, but happy that he was in a much better place. As an empath. I was grieving and absorbing everyone else’s grief too.  Feeling overwhelmed, I desperately needed an outlet.  I wasn’t sleeping well at all and so at 0430, the morning after, I was down in the hotel lobby drinking coffee and writing.

“My big, beautiful [my brother’s nickname], your departure is surreal to me. You only died last night, but it already seems like “forever ago.” I still cannot fathom that you are gone.

I knew a few weeks after your diagnosis that I must see you. The urge was undeniable. A part of me knew it would be the last time I saw you before the last time I saw you. The need to see you was a command, a direct order from my heart and soul. You turned my “stay-cation” into a trip to see you, [your wife] and the kids. That visit temporarily alleviated much of the anxiety I was feeling. I returned home relieved that that was done.

There were many ups and downs after Mom and I returned home in September. In October, I was so infuriated and frustrated with you. I could not see from Pennsylvania how much you struggled on a daily          basis, how hard you fought. In my selfishness I could only feel that you were not fighting hard enough. I could only feel my fear of losing you manifesting in my anger. By Halloween, I knew you would not see the end of November. I managed to turn Thanksgiving into a four-day weekend from work (not the easiest of tasks in healthcare). I thought you would make it till then.

When [your wife] called late on the morning of November 2nd, I threw dirty clothes in a carry on, added an extra day to the pet sitter coming for my Vegas trip (yet another vacation you shot to hell, by the way 😝), turned around and threw in a pair of black dress pants and left. I cried on the drive to the airport. I knew you would not see tomorrow.

I met up with Mom, [my other brother] and [his son] and we flew to you together. Thank God for [my sister-in-law] making all the logistics happen so we had nothing else to worry about but you and your family. I cried on the plane and Raphael came to comfort me in a bright green ball of Love.

Upon arrival at the hospital, I was impatient for the nurse to take us to you. We finally made it. You were semi-conscious but rousable. You remembered every memory we shared in those last hours. You made your beautiful, heartbreaking goodbyes to your kids. I watched our mother cradle your head to her heart and murmur her love to you. She had buried two husbands, but this was nothing like that.

I closed my eyes and saw Michael in an electric blue pillar of fire, there to comfort us all. We surrounded you with Love and you died peacefully in your sleep at 0019 November 3rd. I whispered, “You are finally at peace now,” through my tears. Your answer was immediate, “I AM.” I was startled by how quickly I heard from you. I heard you in my heart that night (last night) in my hotel room, as I heard you tonight. I actually hear you in your voice which is nice as I hear others in mine. Isn’t it amazing how much more efficient and precise this form of communication is? It transcends all language and cultural boundaries in perfect clarity.

As I write this, we still don’t know exactly when your service will be. I only know that I will feel my sorrow and that of all your family, friends and colleagues in attendance. I know I will not just weep for you. I will wail. No doubt people will think I am losing it, but I am not. My Love for you will give me strength. My Love for you and our new relationship will no longer be bound by the limitations of an eight-hour drive across two states.

Despite my previous anger born out of my fear of losing you, when it came right down to it, there was only Love. In the end, as always, Love is all there is and all that matters.

November 4, 2018 0615.”

My black feather turned out to be more than one message.  It was a harbinger of my brother’s coming death.  It was also a message of love and support from my angels, a message to be strong and set boundaries (which I did not do very well at, I might add!) and it was a message of an upcoming mystical experience, iridescent or not.  I was both happy and sad for my brother’s passing.  My physical self ached over his loss, but my Soul, my Spirit was glad for him. I did not tell my family this.  Saying you’re happy that someone died is not “normal” or “nice” in a 3D world.  Life will be easier when everyone is on the same wave length.

As always, thanks for reading!

Peace, Love and Light,

Aunt Jeannie
